PROFILES Rhinoplasty Surgery Candidates

Here at PROFILES, we believe it is essential that you understand your nasal surgery. Generally, we find that if you are seeking an improvement in your appearance and we are able to clearly establish the goals you are seeking, you are more likely to be happy with your PROFILES Beverly Hills Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) experience.

You may be seeking Rhinoplasty surgery because you have always disliked the nose you were born with. Perhaps you are unhappy with changes that have occurred with time, injury, or previous nose surgery. Still others of you present simply wanting to breathe more comfortably. Regardless of your reasons for undergoing Rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills or Los Angeles, it’s clear to us at Beverly Hills PROFILES that the size and shape of your nose has a tremendous impact on how you look and feel about yourself. In fact, even the smallest of changes can dramatically improve your appearance.

If you are considering Rhinoplasty surgery for your child, it’s important to note that generally you should wait until a year after puberty begins for enough physical maturation. Thereafter, it is really a matter of waiting for your child to have the emotional maturity to be comfortable with the decision for nasal surgery. There are instances, such as in cases of impaired breathing, when exceptions are made and Rhinoplasty surgery is done even earlier.

Planning Your PROFILES Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)

During your personalized PROFILES - Beverly Hills Rhinoplasty consultation, your photo will be taken and your doctor will work with you utilizing our state-of-the-art computer imaging systems to give you a better sense of exactly what we can achieve for you Rhinoplasty. This will ensure that both you and your doctor are in agreement regarding your expectations. Your doctors will review the factors important to your specific result and will make sure that you have all the information you need to make you comfortable including the techniques and anesthesia that will be used, information regarding our state of the art fully accredited surgery center, the potential risks of surgery, and the costs.

You should note that procedures which are purely cosmetic in nature, such as cosmetic Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) or Revision Rhinoplasty, are usually not covered by insurance. However, some Rhinoplasty procedures may be covered if they are performed as reconstructive nose surgery, to correct a marked deformity or breathing problem. It’s important that you advise your doctors of any previous nasal surgery you have had and/or any injuries which have occurred to your nose. Also tell your doctor of any allergies or breathing difficulties you have, any medications, vitamins or recreational drugs you are taking, and whether or not you smoke.

After Your PROFILES - Beverly Hills Rhinoplasty - Recovery

Los Angeles Rhinoplasty Surgery (Nose Surgery) patientAfter your Rhinoplasty surgery, you will generally be surprised that there really is very little pain during you recovery. Your face may feel puffy, particularly during the first day after your procedure and you may experience a dull headache. We will of course provide medication to control any discomfort that you may experience.

One more thing you may have heard from friends and family who have had Rhinoplasty surgery done elsewhere, is that the most uncomfortable part of the whole process is the “packing.” Here at Beverly Hills PROFILES, utilizing our modern techniques, we have largely done away with all nose packing. In the rare cases when extensive airway work necessitates packing, we utilize minimal soft material which is removed the morning after nasal surgery. The splint and nasal dressings applied to the nose right after nose surgery will be removed five to seven days after surgery. And in order to further reduce any postoperative discomfort, absorbable sutures which do not require removal are used on the inside of the nose.

You will also be given specific instructions for gradually returning to your normal activities and time to discuss these with your Rhinoplasty surgeon prior to surgery. In general, you may need to avoid strenuous activities like jogging, bending, swimming, sexual activities or any other activities that increase your blood pressure for two to three weeks. You will also need to avoid rubbing or hitting your nose or getting the nose sunburned for eight weeks. Washing your face and hair and using cosmetics will need to be done gently and with care. Contact lenses may be worn as soon as you feel comfortable doing so, while glasses are generally not worn until the nose is completely healed.

Because we care about your immediate comfort and long term results, we schedule all of your follow-up appointments when you schedule your Rhinoplasty surgery. And we are so committed to your long term results and happiness that we will do our best to follow your postoperative course even years after your nose surgery.
